Fetch2 Aspiration Catheter
Medrad Interventional (Indianola, PA) has introduced their next-generation aspiration catheter, the Fetch2 catheter. Performance improvements in the new device include a flexible, variable pitch coiled shaft for improved kink resistance. Other performance improvements include an enhanced distal radiopaque marker band for improved visibility and positioning marker bands to minimize the need for fluoroscopy, the company stated. For operator convenience, Fetch2 also provides dual syringes and filter baskets with a more accessible, clear tray package. The defining features of the earlier Fetch aspiration catheter have been retained, such as a low 4.2-F catheter profile and unique convex-cut distal opening. Despite its low profile, the Fetch2 catheter has demonstrated effective clot removing ability, the company stated.
Cantata Superselective Microcatheter
Cook Medical (Bloomington, IN) recently launched its Cantata superselective microcatheter. Engineered to complement Cook's portfolio of minimally invasive embolization products and coils, the Cantata offers a combination of support and torqueability to help interventional radiologists navigate small and tortuous anatomy while minimizing trauma with distal softness and microwire tracking.
Accepting 0.018-inch embolization coils, the Cantata allows coil delivery and can be used in combination with a wide range of embolization products. Designed to be lipiodol and dimethyl sulfoxide compatible, the Cantata microcatheter can be used in a range of procedures. The kinkresistant braided construction along the entire length of the shaft provides improved torque response and trackability for vessel selection while maintaining catheterization. With a hydrophilic coating designed to reduce surface friction, the 2.8- and 2.5-F catheter lines can achieve a flow rate as high as 3.5 and 1.6 mL/sec, respectively. The five durometer zones deliver a distinct yet seamless transition from the shaft to the soft, distal tip, reducing the risk of trauma.
