March 12, 2019—Findings from a study that sought to assess the effect of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) on hospitalizations for patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS) were published by Sreekanth Vemulapalli, MD, et al in Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC; 2019;73:1135–1146).

Study Evaluates Economic Drivers of Embolic Protection Device Use During TAVR

October 10, 2022—In an observational study evaluating the association between Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS) transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) reimbursement and embolic protection device (EPD) use, Lowenstern et al found that EPD use remains infrequent across all levels of CMS reimbursement and without significant increase after the introduction of the new technology add-on payment.
