NCDR Analysis Demonstrates Comparative Effectiveness of DES in Elderly Patients
January 22, 2014—In Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Michael A. Kutcher, MD, et al published findings from an assessment of the long-term outcomes of elderly patients who had in-stent restenosis (ISR) treated with drug-eluting stents (DES) compared with other treatment strategies (2014;83:171–181). The investigators noted that elderly patients with ISR represent a vulnerable group of which little is known regarding the safety and efficacy of repeat percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
