Medtronic Cardiac Surgery’s VitalFlow ECMO System Launched in Europe
October 7, 2025—Medtronic Cardiac Surgery announced the European launch of its VitalFlow extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) system. VitalFlow is a configurable one-system ECMO solution, noted the company.
According to Medtronic Cardiac Surgery, the VitalFlow ECMO system is intended to bridge the gap between bedside care and intrahospital transport, meeting the complex and evolving demands of modern intensive care units.
The company introduced the VitalFlow system at the 39th European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery annual meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Medtronic Cardiac Surgery also advised that its recently introduced ECMObile, a mobile simulation and education unit designed to offer immersive, hands-on ECMO training, will travel across Europe during the next 12 months to educate health care professionals on best practices in ECMO management.
In July 2025, Medtronic announced CE Mark approval of VitalFlow. In the United States, VitalFlow was launched in September 2024.
