Avail Medsystems and Biomodex Collaborate on Virtual Medical Education

September 16, 2021—Avail Medsystems and Biomodex announced a new collaboration for virtual medical education. Avail Medsystems’ audio/video technology supports medical education and cooperation with live interactive broadcasts from the operating room, and Biomodex is a provider of biorealistic haptic simulators for physician training and rehearsals.

According to the companies, the partnership will enable physician groups, health systems, device companies, and others in the medical community to expand their interactive education programs to include live-streamed rehearsals and training programs involving Biomodex technology. By live-streaming physician rehearsals that involve Biomodex’s biorealistic three-dimensional (3D) models, medical experts can invite their colleagues to learn along with them as they use lifelike simulators to find the most effective strategies before working with patients.

As noted in the announcement, Avail Medsystems’ immersive hardware and software platform enables instant Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act/Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act–protected two-way audio/visual communication, including high-definition video and surgical imaging views and telestration capabilities. Biomodex 3D prints anatomic models that provide biorealistic haptic feedback. The next-generation biorealistic haptic simulators are fully customizable and integrate with a patented blood flow system and intraprocedural imaging tools, enabling clinicians to gain lifelike experience to advance skill sets and promote the adoption of new medical devices or techniques, stated the companies.
