Zoll Medical to Acquire Advanced Circulatory Systems, Inc.
December 22, 2014—Zoll Medical Corporation announced that it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Advanced Circulatory Systems, Inc., which develops technologies to noninvasively increase circulation. Zoll anticipates the transaction will close in early 2015. Advanced Circulatory Systems will continue to operate out of Minnesota as a part of Zoll’s Core Products division.
Advanced Circulatory Systems manufactures and markets intrathoracic pressure regulation products to help restore life and improve the quality of life for patients experiencing cardiac arrest, low blood pressure, and head injury. Zoll Medical, which is based in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, is an Asahi Kasei Group company.
According to Zoll Medical, Advanced Circulatory Systems’ noninvasive intrathoracic pressure regulation therapy platform can potentially protect the heart, brain, and other vital organs when blood flow is compromised, giving rescuers, clinicians, and caregivers the potential to return patients to a full life after critical medical emergencies. Advanced Circulatory Systems’ technologies, which use the body’s own mechanisms to enhance circulation without the use of pharmaceutical or other agents, have demonstrated in multiple studies that they may assist in increasing circulation, cardiac output, and systolic blood pressure.
