Vascular Dynamics Receives Financing to Support Clinical Trials of MobiusHD Device for Heart Failure
July 12, 2022—Vascular Dynamics, Inc. (VDI), a privately held medical device company focused on endovascular device-based solutions for heart failure, announced the closing of its $20 million financing round.
According to the company, the funding will be used to support the development of VDI’s MobiusHD device, which is intended to provide a transcatheter approach to help treat patients experiencing continued heart failure problems despite pharmaceutical therapy. Clinical evaluations are in progress for the device.
The MobiusHD endovascular implant is designed to reshape the carotid artery and amplify the natural baroreflex mechanism, signaling the brain to produce autonomic modulation for improved heart function. Clinical evaluations of the device are in progress.
The financing was led by an investment partner of VDI shareholder Rainbow Medical. Lawrence C. Best also joined existing investors HBM Healthcare Investments and Invus in this equity round.
“We are excited to be moving into the next phase of our company’s evolution,” stated VDI’s CEO Ed Roschak in the press release. “Patients who remain symptomatic despite medical therapy need another option. We believe our device-based treatment can provide a solution. This new round of funding will enable us to further expand the pilot study and sets the stage for a forthcoming pivotal study.”
Additionally, the company reported that Horst Sievert, MD, Director of the CardioVascular Center in Frankfurt, Germany, performed a live endovascular procedure using the MobiusHD device during the CSI Frankfurt 2022 Congress held June 22-25. This procedure represented the 30th patient enrolled in the ongoing clinical trial entitled, “A Feasibility Study Exploring the Effect of the MobiusHD Device in Patients with Heart Failure.”
Dr. Sievert commented in VDI’s press release, “Initial 12-month clinical results have shown impressive efficacy and demonstrated that the MobiusHD device provides a safe option to treat heart failure patients.”
