Terumo Announces Medis QFR 3.0 Software for Coronary Physiology Assessment Availability in the United States

April 16, 2025—Terumo Health Outcomes (THO), a division of Terumo Interventional Systems (TIS), announced that the FDA-cleared Medis Quantitative Flow Ratio (QFR) 3.0 software solution for coronary physiology assessment is available in the United States through its collaboration with Medis Medical Imaging. This milestone builds on the companies’ partnership that commenced in December 2023, noted THO.

According to the THO press release, the Medis QFR artificial intelligence software supports hospital adoption of advanced tools to improve catheterization lab workflow and patient comfort. THO stated that QFR has been validated through clinical research that includes more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and data from more than 17,000 patients and 20,000 lesions.

THO advised that Medis QFR was recommended by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) in recent guidelines.

The 2024 ESC guidelines for the management of patients with chronic coronary syndrome recognized QFR as a physiology measurement technique with a class 1 recommendation in three categories, which Medis announced on October 1, 2024.
