SCCT 2020 Annual Scientific Meeting Will Shift to Virtual Format

May 4, 2020—The Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) announced plans to hold the SCCT 15th Annual Scientific Meeting in a virtual format to be held July 17–18, 2020.

The in-person meeting that was planned to take place July 16–19 in Seattle, Washington, has been canceled because of coronavirus-related restrictions on travel and gatherings as well as concern about the health and safety of attendees, faculty, and patients.

According to SCCT, the Annual Scientific Meeting is designed to engage physician and health care professionals in a comprehensive exploration of the most current developments in the field of cardiovascular CT principles, methodologies, appropriateness criteria, and clinical practice. Complete information is available online at scct.org/page/SCCT2020Virtual.

The virtual conference will feature the same high-quality education of the in-person meeting and will include three session channels, abstract presentations, and the ability to interact with presenters. The online learning experience will provide significant professional and scientific educational opportunities for members and attendees, stated SCCT.

In the announcement, SCCT President Ron Blankstein, MD, commented, “The health and safety of all our Annual Scientific Meeting attendees and the patients they serve is SCCT’s utmost priority. With that in mind, the Board of Directors made the decision to move forward with a virtual meeting format.”

Koen Nieman, MD, the SCCT Annual Scientific Program Committee Chair, added, “A tremendous effort has been made to revise the virtual program, demonstrating SCCT’s commitment to bringing the latest and most cutting-edge scientific research in cardiovascular CT to its audience and stakeholders. We hope you will join us online in July.”
