Pie Medical Imaging Launches Caas IntraVascular 2.0 Software

August 6, 2015—Pie Medical Imaging BV announced the release of its Caas IntraVascular 2.0 dedicated software for analysis of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS)-IVUS, and optical coherence tomography (OCT) datasets.

According to the company, the Caas IntraVascular 2.0 allows data to easily be imported from the console or from a picture-archiving and communication system into a study list for a clear overview of data. The Caas IntraVascular product has received US Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for both IVUS and OCT.

Pie Medical Imaging stated that the raw data import supports files of both St. Jude Medical’s OCT system and Terumo Interventional System’s optical frequency domain imaging format. Z-offset correction enables adjustments of the calibration, even after the export from the console. Data can be analyzed quickly and easily with automatic lumen-contour detection, external elastic membrane segmentation, and stent strut analysis. The position of the struts is clearly visualized and automatically classified into covered, uncovered, and malapposed struts. The system also provides a three-dimensional visualization of the vessel and stent struts.

Caas IntraVascular 2.0 also contains the company’s extensive in-depth Chemogram analysis module, which provides visualization and dedicated analysis of NIRS-IVUS data such as custom lipid core burden index measurements. The software enables on-the-fly reporting, and results can also be easily exported in an extensible markup language or XML file that is Microsoft Excel compatible, advised Pie Medical Imaging.
