Philips Introduces Cardiovascular Interventions in Europe

May 18, 2021—Royal Philips announced the European availability of new cardiac care devices in its product portfolio that integrate imaging, devices, software, informatics, and services.

At the virtual EuroPCR 2021 conference, Philips showcased these devices, which are centered on its Azurion image-guided therapy system for procedures such as percutaneous coronary interventions. The technology includes IntraSight Mobil interventional applications platform; OmniWire pressure guidewire; Philips laser system; the Philips interventional hemodynamic system with patient monitor, IntelliVue X3; and the IntelliSpace Cardiovascular imaging and information manager.

According to the company, IntraSight Mobile combines imaging and physiology applications on a mobile system for coronary and peripheral artery disease therapy. The IntraSight Mobile is built on the same software as IntraSight. The IntraSight platform allows intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) imaging and physiologic measurements of fractional flow reserve (FFR) and instant wave-free ratio (iFR) to accurately identify the location of lesions causing ischemia. It is compatible with Philips’ current and future portfolio of IVUS and physiology disposables. IntraSight Mobile has received European CE Mark approval and FDA 510(k) clearance in the United States.

The OmniWire pressure guidewire received CE Mark approval and is available in Europe for coronary artery interventions. The device OmniWire supports iFR and FFR measurements, which can be coregistered onto angiograms to precisely identify the parts of a vessel that require treatment. The device has also received FDA 510(k) clearance for sale in the United States.

The Philips laser system is intended for coronary and peripheral atherectomy procedures, including treating in-stent restenosis. Additionally, it is used for pacemaker or defibrillator lead extraction procedures. The laser system has CE Mark approval for sale in Europe. It is not currently available for sale in the United States.

The IntelliVue X3 patient monitor provides advanced hemodynamic measurements at the tableside in the catheterization lab and continuous monitoring of key vital signs throughout the course of patient treatment.

Finally, IntelliSpace Cardiovascular provides a comprehensive overview of the patient’s cardiovascular care continuum and helps save time and unnecessary work and significantly improves efficiency and workflow.
