OrbusNeich Launches Combo Plus Dual-Therapy Stent
November 29, 2016—OrbusNeich recently announced the launch of Combo Plus, the company's latest-generation dual-therapy stent (DTS). The Combo Plus DTS features anti-CD34 antibody biological coating for active vessel healing combined with improved deliverability for patients with complex coronary artery disease. The device is not commercially available in the United States.
According to the company, the biological coating on the outer surface of the Combo Plus device immediately captures endothelial progenitor cells and initiates the formation of an endothelial layer. This accelerated healing process leads to earlier return of functionality and may reduce adverse events in the long-term. A directional coating of bioabsorbable polymer elutes sirolimus to inhibit neointimal hyperplasia.
The Combo Plus DTS employs an enhanced balloon catheter with a lower-profile design, lubricious coating, and reduced shaft diameters. The stent design is based on OrbusNeich’s R-Stent pattern. In May 2013, OrbusNeich announced CE Mark approval of the Combo DTS for the treatment of coronary artery disease, and it was launched in Europe and selected markets in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions.
