Onocor’s Ono Retrieval Device to Be Distributed in United States by B. Braun

July 17, 2023—Onocor LLC, a medical technology company developing safety tools and other facilitating technologies for the catheterization lab, announced that the company has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with B. Braun Interventional Systems Inc. in preparation for the commercial launch of Onocor’s Ono retrieval device in the United States.

Under the agreement, Braun will initiate the United States commercialization activities for the Ono device, which will position Onocor’s safety technology in the market of catheter-based interventions, while expanding B. Braun’s portfolio of devices in the congenital and structural heart arena.

In May 2022, Onocor announced FDA clearance of the Ono device. The device has been used at select catheterization labs in the United States since 2022, noted the company.

Onocor and B. Braun Interventional Systems will conduct a limited launch of the Ono retrieval device this summer. The full market launch is planned for PICS Live 2023, the Pediatric and Congenital Interventional Cardiovascular Society’s annual symposium, which will be held concurrently with the World Congress of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery on August 28-31 in Washington, DC.

According to the company’s press release, the Ono device is designed to receive, align, compress, and remove material (both nonbiologic and biologic) from the vascular system. It is compatible with commercially available vascular sheaths, endovascular snares, and other graspers. It is designed to make catheter-based retrieval less tedious, faster, and safer, as well as mitigate the need for remedial surgical procedures.

The company advised that two dozen clinical-use cases with the Ono device have been completed, including several published case reports by early users. Additionally, clinical evidence on the use of the Ono retrieval device has been recently presented at several scientific meetings, including the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions’ SCAI Scientific Sessions 2023, held May 18-20 in Phoenix, Arizona, and the CSI Frankfurt 2023 conference, held from June 28 to July 1 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
