Mermaid’s Angel Catheter Approved in Europe for Pulmonary Embolism Prevention

April 10, 2026—Mermaid Medical Group announced that the company’s Angel catheter has received European CE Mark approval for the prevention of pulmonary embolism. Mermaid Medical will now offer the Angel catheter to health care professionals throughout Europe.

According to the company, the Angel catheter addresses the clinical challenge of certain critically ill or injured patients who are at high risk of developing blood clots early during hospitalization and when blood‑thinning medication is contraindicated because of bleeding risk or because of recent or planned surgery. The device is intended to support clinicians in managing patients during the so‑called “unprotected window” where standard prophylactic options may not be suitable, advised Mermaid Medical.
