Merit Medical Ventrax Delivery System Launched in United States

April 14, 2025—Merit Medical Systems, Inc. recently announced the United States commercial release of its Ventrax delivery system. The device joins the company’s electrophysiology and cardiac rhythm management portfolio.

According to the company, Ventrax is intended to facilitate placement of devices used in ablation procedures to treat ventricular tachycardia (VT). It is designed as an all-in-one device to provide a streamlined pathway for ablation catheters via retrograde aortic access.

“For the electrophysiologist, using retrograde aortic access was always a risk-benefit decision, and the community has needed a tool that would make that decision easier,” commented Albert Sun, MD, in Merit’s press release.

Jason Koontz, MD, added, “The new retrograde delivery system provides access to the left ventricle, allowing for the exchange of catheters to diagnose, map, or treat VT. This adds to our tools as we work to deliver the best possible outcomes for our patients.”

Drs. Sun and Koontz are electrophysiologists at Duke Health in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Sun’s advice was instrumental in Merit’s development of the Ventrax system, and Dr. Koontz serves as a product development consultant to Merit, noted the company.
