Merit Medical Acquires Solo Pace for TAVR Pacing Technology

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Merit purchased Solo Pace’s remaining outstanding equity for approximately $45 million.
  • The acquisition adds temporary pacing systems for TAVR and other THV procedures to Merit’s portfolio.
  • Solo Pace previously announced FDA 510(k) clearance and commercial release of its Fusion system.

November 2, 2026—Merit Medical Systems, Inc. announced the acquisition of Solo Pace, Inc., a Minneapolis, Minnesota–based manufacturer of temporary pacing technology for transcatheter heart valve (THV) procedures. Merit, which had previously invested in Solo Pace, acquired all remaining outstanding equity on October 13, 2026, for purchase consideration of approximately $45 million, according to the company’s press release.

The acquisition expands Merit’s Cardiac Therapies platform with the Solo Pace Control and Solo Pace Fusion systems, which are designed for transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and other THV procedures. Before the acquisition, Merit served as the exclusive distributor of Solo Pace’s intraprocedural pacing technology. The company stated that the transaction supports its structural heart portfolio expansion and focus on simplifying procedural workflows.

Solo Pace Fusion is a single-use, sterile kit for temporary intracardiac pacing that combines guidewire functionality, left ventricular pacing, and patient grounding in one device. It is designed for use with the Solo Pace Control external pulse generator. According to the release, the systems support operator-specific protocols, automated pace capture checks, sterile remote control operation, and visual indicators.

Merit stated that the systems are designed to simplify pacing setup, reduce workflow variability, and standardize pacing strategies during TAVR. The company also cited potential reductions in communication-related pacing errors and vascular complications.

“Seeing the technology embraced by physicians and having a meaningful impact on procedural efficiency has been incredibly gratifying,” stated David V. Daniels, MD, an interventional cardiologist and Founder of Solo Pace, in the press release. “With Merit taking the lead, I’m excited for the difference the Solo Pace products can make in advancing patient care and market adoption.”

Solo Pace announced FDA 510(k) clearance of Solo Pace Fusion in April 2025 and its commercial release in March 2026. Merit plans to use its commercial, clinical, and physician education capabilities to expand adoption in the United States and extend availability internationally over time.
