Merit Medical Acquires Medigroup

November 29, 2012—Merit Medical Systems, Inc. (South Jordan, UT) announced that it has acquired substantially all of the assets of Medigroup, Inc. (Oswego, IL), a manufacturer of peritoneal dialysis catheters. Merit Medical manufactures and markets disposable medical devices used in interventional and diagnostic procedures, particularly in cardiology, radiology, and endoscopy.

According to Merit Medical, the purchase of Medigroup is intended to enhance Merit's dialysis business. Merit advised that it plans to offer the Medigroup product line immediately on a worldwide basis, noting that peritoneal dialysis is the procedure of choice over chronic catheters in many international markets and its use is growing in the United States.
