Kaminari Medical Closes Funding Round for Development of Intravascular Imaging Technology
October 14, 2024—Kaminari Medical, a developer of intravascular imaging technology, announced it has closed a €3.8 million funding round. This strategic investment will allow Kaminari Medical to accelerate the development of its photoacoustics and ultrasound imaging platform for detecting coronary artery disease (CAD), initiate clinical trials, and work up to market introduction.
According to Kaminari Medical, its intravascular imaging technology leverages the power of photoacoustics and ultrasound to provide real-time qualification of plaque composition in CAD, particularly lipid-rich plaques that pose the greatest risk of rupture. Kaminari Medical’s solution aims to deliver highly accurate assessments of coronary arteries to enable physicians to better assess the risk of major cardiovascular events, guide optimal treatment strategy, and save lives.
The funding round consists of investments totaling € 2.3 million from Graduate Entrepreneur, NLC Health Ventures, Libertatis Ergo Holding (Leiden University), and Demcon Investment. The round was completed by an Innovation Credit of € 1.5 million from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), advised Kaminari Medical.
