HeartFlow Introduces Next-Generation FFRCT Analysis Platform
June 23, 2016—HeartFlow, Inc. announced the launch of its next generation of the HeartFlow Fractional Flow Reserve Computed Tomography (FFRCT) Analysis, which includes advancements in the process and algorithms HeartFlow uses to calculate FFRCT values.
According to the company, the new platform’s enhancements, which received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance, include advanced algorithms and streamlined case processing, cloud-based infrastructure utilizing Amazon Web Services, and increased security measures.
The noninvasive HeartFlow FFRCT Analysis produces a detailed summary of flow dynamics and model of the patient’s coronary arteries. The technology first received de novo clearance from the FDA in 2014. It is also available in Canada, Europe, and Japan.
In April 2016, the company announced that 1-year data from the PLATFORM (Prospective Longitudinal Trial of FFRCT: Outcome and Resource Impacts) trial, which compared standard diagnostic strategies to a HeartFlow-guided strategy, were presented at ACC.16, the American College of Cardiology’s 65th Annual Scientific Session held April 2–4 in Chicago, Illinois.
