Cleerly’s CONFIRM2 Registry Identifies Key Metrics to Predict Cardiac Events

November 18, 2024—Cleerly announced recently that the CONFIRM2 global multicenter study showed how noninvasive, comprehensive artificial intelligence (AI)–based analysis of cardiac CT can predict major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients who show symptoms of coronary artery disease (CAD).

The presentation, “Prognostic value of AI-guided quantitative coronary CT angiography (AI-QCT) technology in patients with suspected CAD,” was delivered by Alexander R. van Rosendael, MD, in a late-breaking clinical science session at TCT 2024, the 36th annual Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics annual scientific symposium of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation held October 27-30 in Washington, DC.

Dr. van Rosendael is from the Department of Cardiology at the Leiden University Medical Center in Leiden, the Netherlands.

According to the company, the study demonstrated that the quantitative atherosclerotic features most strongly associated with MACE and revealed that these findings are more effective than traditional clinical risk scores.

As summarized in Cleerly’s press release, the study was composed of 3,551 symptomatic patients from 18 sites across 13 countries. The investigators used advanced AI technology to analyze coronary CTA data.

The analysis found that only two key measures were the strongest predictors of MACE:

  1. Percent diameter stenosis
  2. Noncalcified plaque volume

Additionally, CONFIRM2 demonstrated that coronary artery calcified plaque volume was not an independent predictor of adverse patient outcomes.

The findings suggest that using AI-driven evaluations can help guide treatment decisions, potentially improving outcomes for patients with CAD and reducing cardiovascular events, stated Cleerly.
