CLASP IID Trial Evaluates Edwards' Pascal Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair System
December 3, 2018—Atlantic Health System’s Morristown Medical Center announced that the first transcatheter mitral valve repair (TMVR) procedure in the CLASP IID pivotal trial was performed at the center located in Morristown, New Jersey. The CLASP IID trial will evaluate the Pascal TMVR system (Edwards Lifesciences) for patients with degenerative mitral valve regurgitation.
The trial is led by National Principal Investigators Linda Gillam, MD, with Morristown Medical Center; Scott Lim, MD, with the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia; and Rob Smith, MD, with The Heart Hospital Baylor in Plano, Texas.
In the announcement from Atlantic Health System, Dr. Gillam commented, “We are extremely honored to implant the first device in this trial and to make this therapy available for those we care for.” Dr. Gillam is the Dorothy and Lloyd Huck Chair of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Morristown Medical Center and Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Service Line for Atlantic Health System.
