CathWorks FFRangio System Approved in Japan
December 11, 2019—CathWorks announced that the company’s FFRangio system for intraprocedural fractional flow reserve guidance was approved by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare. The CathWorks FFRangio system, which is also commercially available in the United States and Europe, is a noninvasive diagnostic technology used at the time of routine angiography.
According to the company, the system transforms routine angiogram images into objective and comprehensive physiology information, including color-coded, three-dimensional renderings of blood flow in the coronary arteries to help physicians optimize decision-making for patients with coronary artery disease, including whether a stent is needed. The FFRangio system is noninvasive and performed intraprocedurally during coronary angiography without adding additional clinical risk or per-procedure costs, stated CathWorks.
