Boston Scientific's Omega BMS Approved in EU

March 7, 2011—Boston Scientific Corporation (Natick, MA) announced that it has received CE Mark approval for the Omega platinum chromium (PtCr) bare-metal coronary stent system, the company's thirdgeneration coronary stenting technology.

According to the company, the device incorporates Boston Scientific's PtCr alloy and is designed specifically for coronary stenting. The Omega stent is available in 48 sizes, ranging in diameter from 2.25 mm to 4.5 mm and lengths of 8 mm to 32 mm. Boston Scientific will immediately begin marketing the Omega stent system in the European Union and other CE Mark countries. The Omega stent system is part of Boston Scientific's PtCr stent series, which includes the Taxus Element paclitaxel-eluting stent system and Promus Element everolimus-eluting stent system.
