Biotronik’s Orsiro Mission DES With Expanded Maximum-Allowed Diameters Range Is Introduced

July 1, 2024—Biotronik announced the availability of an expanded maximum-allowed diameters (MAD) range for the Orsiro Mission drug-eluting stent (DES).

According to the company, the Orsiro Mission DES‘s diameters of 2.25 to 3 mm can now be extended up to 4 mm. Also, diameters of 3.5 and 4 mm can reach up to 5 mm. The new MAD expansion comes after regulatory approvals in Europe, the United States, and Canada that were obtained in the past months.

Biotronik stated that this update reflects a global effort for the Orsiro Mission stent technology to match contemporary percutaneous coronary intervention practice, allowing clinicians to optimize vessel apposition and conform to tapered anatomies.

Updated labeling and modified instructions for use (IFU) will provide further guidance to clinicians, who should consult the IFU specific to their countries when applying the MAD, advised Biotronik.
