Atrium Launches Kaneka's Xpress-Way RX Extraction Catheter in the US

January 13, 2011—Atrium Medical Corporation (Hudson, NH) and Kaneka Corporation (Osaka, Japan) announced the introduction of the Xpress-Way RX extraction catheter. Xpress-Way RX has recently received 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration and is indicated for the removal of fresh, soft emboli and thrombi from vessels in the coronary and peripheral vasculature.

According to the companies, the Xpress-Way RX extraction catheter is an ultra-low-profile manual aspiration system that incorporates a removable stylet. It is designed with enhanced pushability, antikinking, trackability, and crossability to maximize deliverability.

Kaneka manufactures the Xpress-Way RX and Atrium Medical is the exclusive distributor in the United States. Outside the United States, Kaneka markets the device as the Thrombuster II.
