Adept Medical Launches Prone Support Device

May 23, 2022—Adept Medical, an Auckland-based medical device manufacturer, announced the launch of their Prone Support product in the United States. The device is an imaging-table accessory designed to comfortably support and manage a patient in the prone position during C-arm image-guided procedures, as well as multiple other procedure types.

According to the company, the Prone Support’s arm-supporting surface is cantilevered out from the imaging table and can accommodate a variety of patient sizes and mobility ranges. The device has an elevated cushion for face support with clearance through the center that can provide space for nasal oxygen prongs. The head-supporting assembly can also be removed if needed. The company also noted the device can be used with most C-arm imaging tables by placing it underneath the mattress.

“We worked closely with local interventional radiologists and other medical professionals to develop a product that allows for a consistent and comfortable patient experience,” James Kember, Lead Product Design Engineer for Adept Medical, stated in the press release. “A driving goal was to produce a solution that maintains the balance of simplicity and complexity when providing functional adjustability that could accommodate a wide range of patients.”
