SCAI Bifurcation Club Formed to Promote Worldwide Excellence in Coronary Artery Bifurcation Interventions
September 28, 2020—The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) announced the formation of the SCAI Bifurcation Club, an initiative dedicated to promoting excellence in coronary artery bifurcation interventions worldwide through innovation, research, technologic advances, education, point-of-care tools, and production of consensus documents and guidelines.
The new initiative was announced by Cindy Grines, MD, 2020-2021 SCAI President, and George Dangas, MD, the 2020-2021 Secretary and Chair of the SCAI Bifurcation Club, in an electronic communication to the interventional community.
The SCAI Bifurcation Club will be highlighted in three featured sessions at the China Bifurcation Summit virtual meeting on October 20 and 27, and November 3. Future activities are being planned.
Dr. Grines and Dr. Dangas stated that the initiative will adhere to the guiding principles of patients first; inclusiveness and diversity; interdisciplinary collaboration; and innovation and science.
They advised that the club's commitment to inclusiveness and diversity is demonstrated by the inclusion of representation from several bifurcation societies across the globe, including the Asia Pacific Bifurcation Club/Left Main and Coronary Bifurcation Summit, the European Bifurcation Club, the Canadian Association of Interventional Cardiology, and the Latin American Bifurcation Club.
