Puzzle Medical Devices Receives Financing for Development of Transcatheter Heart Pump

June 15, 2020—Puzzle Medical Devices Inc. announced the closure of a financing round that will support the continued development of the company’s long-term hemodynamic transcatheter heart pump intended for chronic support. The company is based in Montreal, Canada.

The investment comes after the successful completion of Puzzle Medical’s first preclinical studies of the device, including acute in vivo preclinical implantations. The financing was led by Canadian entrepreneur Pascal Labrecque and included a United States venture capital firm, entrepreneurs, and interventional cardiologists practicing in Canada, the United States, and Europe.

“This technology clearly answers an unmet need in the management of chronic heart failure patients,” commented interventional cardiologist Philippe Généreux, MD, in the company’s announcement. “I have been extremely impressed by the success achieved during the initial preclinical work and remain excited and confident about its future application in patients.”
